Job Description
Store Supervisor
The Matcha Tokyo – Toronto
The Matcha Tokyo is a premium Japanese matcha café known for precision, quality, and thoughtful hospitality. We are opening our Toronto location and are looking for a Store Supervisor to help lead day-to-day operations while actively working on the floor preparing drinks and serving guests.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who enjoys making matcha, engaging with customers, and supporting a small team in a calm, organized environment.
What You’ll Do
On-Floor Service & Product Execution
- Prepare matcha and specialty drinks to The Matcha Tokyo standards
- Serve customers with warmth, efficiency, and attention to detail
- Maintain speed, accuracy, and presentation during service
- Set the example for hospitality, cleanliness, and product quality
Daily Operations
- Open and/or close the store as scheduled
- Ensure consistent execution of drinks, food prep, and presentation
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and brand standards at all times
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs
- Ensure all equipment is used and maintained properly
Team Leadership
- Supervise and support baristas during shifts
- Lead service flow and actively work alongside the team
- Train new team members on recipes, procedures, and service standards
- Provide real-time coaching and feedback during service
- Help create a positive, respectful, and efficient work environment
Customer Experience
- Deliver warm, polished, and consistent customer service
- Handle guest questions or minor issues professionally
- Ensure every guest receives a refined The Matcha Tokyo experience
Administrative & Support Duties
- Assist with scheduling and shift coverage
- Support basic cash handling and end-of-day procedures
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards
- Communicate operational issues or improvement opportunities to ownership
Ownership Support
- Act as the on-site point of contact when ownership is not present
- Communicate clearly, proactively, and professionally
- Support continuous improvement as the store grows
Who You Are:
- 2–4 years experience in café, specialty coffee, or hospitality
- Comfortable preparing drinks and working directly with customers
- Previous supervisor or shift-lead experience preferred
- Calm, detail-oriented, and reliable in fast-paced service
- Takes pride in product quality and guest experience
- Interested in growing with a premium brand
Compensation & Benefits
- $22–$24 per hour, based on experience
