We are looking for a certified dog trainer or a trainer actively working toward certification who is confident working with puppies, enjoys educating clients, and wants to be part of a supportive, growing team.
Job Overview
The Dog Trainer will lead puppy-focused training programs, support dogs who need additional guidance in daycare or lodging, and work directly with clients to explain and promote Dogvana’s training services. This role is hands-on, client-facing, and collaborative.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Puppy Preschool, Puppy Daycare, and introductory group training classes
- Support puppies and young dogs with basic obedience, social skills, and confidence building
- Assist with training plans for dogs requiring additional structure, in collaboration with management
- Provide guidance to pet care staff when behavioural questions arise
- Communicate clearly with clients about training goals, progress, and expectations
- Recommend appropriate training programs based on dog assessments
- Promote training services through positive, professional client interactions
- Maintain safe, calm, and positive training environments using reward-based methods
Qualifications
- Recognized dog training certification OR currently enrolled in a certification program (required)
- Strong understanding of dog behaviour, body language, and learning theory
- Commitment to positive reinforcement and fear-free training methods
- Comfortable handling dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, professional, and team-oriented
