Job Description

McNaughton Home Hardware Building Centre is Canada’s Oldest Lumber, serving Southwestern Ontario since 1890 from this location. Our secret to success is simply to provide industry leading customer service while creating a positive environment that fosters teamwork and growth.

We are looking to fill a Contractor Desk and Estimator role, whereby the successful candidate will assist contractors and customers at the Contractor Desk with their projects, while providing design and material take-offs for various projects such as decks and fences, siding, pole barns, roofing, windows, trim etc. If you are passionate about the residential construction/renovation industry, enjoy being a contributor and appreciate an environment with strong teamwork this is your opportunity.

Responsibilities:

– Maintain strong communication with the sales team, lumber yard, customers and ownership.

– Provide accurate material take-offs from various construction plans (blueprint, sketch, list, email etc)

– Assist customers with shopping needs in all areas of the store, but focussed on building materials.

– Understanding of building codes, by-laws and construction requirements.

– Special order material to supply sold jobs.

– Act as primary consultant for customers and contractors related to products materials and installation methods, while recommending other products that may improve the project.

– Problem solve with sales team potential replacement materials, design obstacles or other issues as they arise.

– Conduct site visits if/when required.

– Provide exceptional customer service to all customers.

– Answer phone calls and assist with carryouts.

– Foster strong working relationships with vendors for special order products and material specs.

– Be an engaged team member, providing product knowledge assistance to staff, sharing new leads and working towards the ultimate success of our customers.

– Work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multi projects and meet deadlines

– Other duties as assigned by Management

Requirements:

– At least 2 years in related trades or material supply company

– Strong math, computer skills and attention to detail

– Understanding of building principles including framing, windows, roofing, decks, drywall etc

– Fosters team work, strong communication skills and leadership by example

– Positive, hard-working and honest approach to your career

– Works well under pressure during busy times
