Job Description

JCC Children & Family Programs: Board Game Wizard

Job Type: Part-Time Position

Wage: $20–$25 hourly (based on experience)

Location: Prosserman JCC – 4588 Bathurst Street, North York, ON (Bathurst/Sheppard Area) and/or Schwartz/Reisman Centre (Bathurst/Rutherford Area)

Job Overview

We are seeking an energetic, patient, and playful Board Game Wizard to lead a fun and interactive board game program for children ages 4–11. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and using games as a tool to build social skills, critical thinking, teamwork, and positive sportsmanship in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.

The Board Game Wizard will introduce children to a variety of age-appropriate board and tabletop games, teaching rules, strategies, and cooperative play. New games will be introduced every few sessions, with children playing in small groups to encourage participation and confidence.

Responsibilities

  • Teach children how to play a variety of board and tabletop games in a clear, simple, and engaging way
  • Select age-appropriate games for different age groups and skill levels
  • Rotate and introduce new board games every few sessions
  • Organize children into small groups and support gameplay
  • Encourage turn-taking, cooperation, problem-solving, and fair play
  • Adapt rules or gameplay to support younger children or mixed-age groups
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment
  • Set up games before sessions and assist with clean-up afterward
  • Monitor group dynamics and resolve minor conflicts calmly and positively
  • Communicate with parents or staff as needed regarding participation and progress

What Do You Bring?

  • Experience running game clubs, camps, or after-school programs
  • Knowledge of a variety of children’s board and tabletop games
  • Experience working with children
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Patience, reliability, and enthusiasm
  • Comfortable leading small groups of children

Preferred (But Not Required)

  • Background in education, child development, or recreational programming
  • Experience teaching children ages 4–12
  • Background in theatre, performance, or interactive facilitation
