Job Description

As an A&D (Architecture & Design) Representative, you’ll play a key role in building Ames’ brand presence and growing our market share within the Calgary design community.
This is an entry-level, growth-focused sales role ideal for someone ambitious, curious, and energized by relationship-building. Designers operate in a crowded and complex marketplace, and your job is to make their lives easier by becoming their trusted, want-to-work-with-you go-to resource. You’ll represent a thoughtfully curated portfolio of materials, supported by a collaborative team that is invested in your success.
Based in Calgary, this role is well suited to someone who thrives on face-to-face interactions, enjoys balancing autonomy with teamwork, and is excited to build a long-term career in A&D sales.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the Architecture and Design community
- Develop relationships within an assigned list of architects, designers, and custom home builders, while identifying opportunities to add new accounts.
- Manage and prioritize your sales pipeline to drive growth
Relationship Building & Brand Presence
- Build strong, lasting relationships through in-person and virtual interactions
- Respond to client inquiries with professionalism and urgency
- Attend and participate in industry, hosted, and sponsored events, including some outside business hours
- Represent Ames and promote its product portfolio within the design community
Presentations & Product Promotion
- Deliver effective sales presentations, including product knowledge sessions, lunch and learns, and CEU presentations
- Support sales and marketing initiatives through in-person activities
- Coordinate the delivery and return of samples and marketing collateral
- Leverage face-to-face interactions to uncover new opportunities
Sales Cycle Management
- Support clients through the full sales process with product details, pricing, and project requirements
- Maintain consistent follow-up to move opportunities forward
- Manage opportunities from initial specification through to close
- Stay informed on competitor products, pricing, and service approaches
CRM & Reporting
- Log all sales activities and opportunities accurately in the CRM platform
- Maintain current and reliable client and pipeline information
- Track progress against sales goals
Collaboration & Team Alignment
- Partner with leadership and local A&D peers to execute sales strategies
- Collaborate with the broader Ames A&D team across Western Canada
- Communicate regularly with management on progress and priorities
- Align daily activities with company goals, standards, and protocols
Qualifications:
- Exposure to the architecture and design community through education, internships, retail, hospitality, showroom, or related customer-facing roles
- Interest in building long-term relationships within a professional design and sales environment
- Comfort with technology or willingness to learn, including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Office Suite (PowerPoint and Excel), and CRM platforms such as Whitecup
- Ability to work primarily from the Calgary branch office and showroom, with the flexibility to travel within Calgary and surrounding communities (e.g., Cochrane, Red Deer) as needed to support territory responsibilities. This role may also include participation in showroom coverage, including occasional Saturday shifts, with specific scheduling to be determined. Ability to travel within Calgary and work from the showroom as needed to meet territory responsibilities
- Availability for occasional overnight travel, a few nights per year
- Valid driver’s license with reliable personal transportation required for travel as part of role responsibilities.
- Successful completion of a background check will be required
