What would my role be?

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Services, you will play a crucial role in overseeing various aspects related to environmental services. You will:

  • Collaborate with nursing, facilities management, and finance to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Set corporate goals, distribute workloads fairly, and strive for cost-effective, high-quality service that meets customer expectations.
  • Ensure clean and secure parking facilities and participate in the Supplies Committee.
  • Step in to fulfill managerial responsibilities in the manager’s absence

How do I qualify?

Required:

  • Three (3) year Community College Diploma in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience
  • Leadership experience in the environmental services field
  • 2 years in general system software such as Word, Excel etc.
  • Fluent in French and English (Candidates who do not meet this language requirement are eligible to apply for this position and may be considered if there are no other suitable applicants who meet this requirement).

Preferred:

  • Infection control cleaning, teaching and monitoring experience in a hospital environment.
  • Prior experience working in an Environmental Services department in Healthcare

What skills should I possess to succeed in the role?

  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  • Knowledge and skills demonstration required for providing a clean and safe environment by understanding and following the provincial standards and guidelines for healthcare facilities.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
  • Proficient with Materiel Management integrated computerized system and with desktop applications.
  • Able to exercise good judgment in priority-setting in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of initiative and analytical skills.
  • Able to handle many stressful activities at one time.
  • Able to exercise good judgment in interpretation of terms & conditions of contracts.
  • Excellent negotiating skills to deal with vendors and voice recommendations.
  • Able to ensure the most economical and effective purchases.
  • Able to research environmental impact of new equipment/materials to support decisions or recommend alternatives.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in both official languages to deal with vendors, clients, patients, visitors.
  • Able to assign daily work to employees and voice recommendations.
  • Be available in case of emergency.
  • Demonstrate great empathy and listening towards staff.
  • Able to make decisions quickly
  • Intermediate computer skills.
